Meet Josh Beck, a sought-after 21-year-old musician hailing from the vibrant city of Pittsburgh. Gifted with exceptional talent and versatility, he is a skilled multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, organ (classical/sacred as well as Hammond B3), and accordion. Currently, Josh is honing his skills in jazz at the prestigious Frost School of Music, under the mentorship of the esteemed Martin Bejerano.

Josh Beck's passion for music ignited at a young age when he discovered the piano at seven and spent eight years honing his classical skills. His journey into the world of jazz began in high school, and since then, he has embraced a wide range of genres, from classical and jazz to indie rock, hip-hop, sacred music, and more. His versatility as a pianist allows him to seamlessly blend these diverse musical worlds.

Josh Beck has thrived in a variety of musical settings, from free jazz and gospel to Afro-Cuban and fusion. At Frost, he's performed at with distinguished musicians like Regina Carter, Ari Hoenig, and Jazzmeia Horn, and has studied with renowned pianists including Gonzalo Rubalcaba and James Francies. In June 2024, Josh recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the Kenny Wheeler Legacy Project (coming Jan 2025), further enriching his musical journey.

Josh's influences encompass a diverse range of jazz legends, including Thelonious Monk, Erroll Garner, Eric Dolphy, and Ahmad Jamal. Drawing inspiration from these greats, he is beginning to develop a distinct and captivating style that captures the essence of the jazz tradition while infusing it with his own creativity.

Alongside his formal education, Josh has embarked on a unique journey as a piano tuner. In 2020, no one could come tune his piano, so he taught himself through online courses and working on friends and families pianos. In the summer of 2023, he tuned over 30 pianos. He plans on continuing this journey by training with the Piano Technicians Guild after college.
